The Onagawa Cup

We're delighted to announce that Richard and Neil's Football blog have been roped into to playing in the inaurgural Onagawa Cup, where a team of Northern Football Writers will play a team of Northern League Fans.

This is an event that has been organised by Michael Hudson (or @DolphinHotel if you like your twitter), who also organised the extremely successful Socrates Ryton (although I couldn't get there due to a car insurance issue...). The day is aimed at raising money for a Japanese football team who lost most of their equipment in the recent tsunami there. More information on the whys and wherefores of the day can be found here - http://northernleagueday.wordpress.com/ - for the event we have also had a (very small and quick) interview which can be seen here - http://northernleagueday.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/northern-leagues-united-pen-pics-9/

It just remains for me to say that both Neil and I are really looking forward to what should prove to be a great day. If you can get to Birtley Sports Ground on the 9th July at 11.30 then you'll be treated to three games of football (of varying standards) for £3 (that's right!) and you'll be helping a great cause too.
